Brann & Isaacson Attorney Helps Settle Excessive Use of Force Claim relating to Police Shooting

Partner Michael Carey successfully represented the plaintiff in a federal suit alleging excessive use of force by an Ellsworth Police Officer after the officer brandished his gun at the plaintiff. Jeffrey Barnard had pursued the case without an attorney for five years when Carey stepped in to represent him in his trial in U.S. District Court in Bangor. Carey then negotiated a cash settlement for Mr. Barnard that avoided the need for a trial.
