B&I Attorneys Present Webinar on the Chaos in State Tax Law, Post-Wayfair

On April 30, 2020, Brann & Isaacson senior partner George Isaacson, partner Nathaniel Bessey, and associate Jamie Szal, were featured presenters at a webinar on “Confronting the Chaos of State Taxes in the Post-Wayfair Environment,” offered by the Institute of Finance & Management. Isaacson, who represented Wayfair in the Supreme Court in South Dakota v. Wayfair, Bessey, and Szal address the dramatic and chaotic changes in state tax law and practice that the Supreme Court’s Wayfair opinion have led to. Those include state efforts to apply Wayfair to corporate net income, gross receipts, and franchise taxes; retroactive application of the Wayfair holding; state and local legislation in response to Wayfair; and state attempts to limit the scope of Public Law 86-272 as applied to interstate transactions in the e-commerce age.
