B&I Lawyers Prevail in Federal Civil Rights Jury Trial
On November 2, 2017, following a two-day federal jury trial, associate Connor J.K. Beatty, supervised by litigation partner Daniel A. Nuzzi, obtained a unanimous plaintiff verdict in a federal civil rights case. In this case in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine, the jury found that the prison disciplinary captain and prison warden violated the prisoner’s due process rights in connection with a prison disciplinary proceeding. Although this was Connor’s first jury trial, he delivered the opening and closing arguments, and examined all of the witnesses. He is now one of 10 Brann & Isaacson lawyers who have tried a federal civil jury case. This marks the second successful federal civil rights jury verdict in the past several months for B&I litigators.
