Nathaniel Bessey is a partner whose practice includes advising online and catalog retailers in areas crucial to their business, including state and local tax issues, regulatory compliance, copyright and trademark, and data privacy and security. Nat has experience representing clients in proceedings and litigation in state and federal court, and administrative bodies such as the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and state revenue departments.  Nat regularly advises clients on compliance issues, including issues relating to email and telephone marketing and the collection and use of personal data.

Prior to joining Brann & Isaacson, Nat worked for a large international law firm in Philadelphia and for a rapidly growing software start–up in Washington, DC, advising on issues of consumer data privacy.  Fluent in German, Nat has lived and worked in Germany, as a recipient of the Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship.

Nat is a co–author of “Eyes on eCom Law,” a blog that reports on legal developments of interest to direct marketers and online sellers.
