George S. Isaacson is a senior partner and represents direct marketers and electronic merchants throughout the United States in connection with state sales, use and income tax matters, as well as regulatory issues. He is tax counsel to the Direct Marketing Association and has represented the DMA in the filing of amicus curiae briefs in state and federal courts throughout the country, including the United States Supreme Court, regarding various tax matters. George has also represented the DMA in negotiations with state governors to simplify and standardize state sales/use tax systems and was DMA's representative on the Steering Committee for the National Tax Association's Project on Taxation of Electronic Commerce. He is on the Editorial Advisory Board of CCH Sales & Use Tax Alert. George teaches courses on Constitutional Law at Bowdoin College. He frequently speaks before business groups and trade associations regarding taxation of interstate transactions and taxation of electronic commerce. Such speaking engagements have included the Promotion Marketing Association of America, National Institute for State and Local Taxation, Institute on Federal Taxation, New York State Society of CPAs, The Conference Board (Conference on Advanced E-Commerce Tax Policy), Committee on State Taxation (COST), Multistate Tax Commission and the American Bar Association, Section on Taxation. George was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® in 2008 and 2009 in the field of corporate litigation and as a New England Super Lawyer® in 2009.
George is a co-author of 'Eyes on eCom Law,' a blog that reports on legal developments of interest to direct marketers and online sellers.
