Brann & Isaacson's emphasis on a creative and result-oriented approach is best exemplified by its comprehensive litigation practice. Lawyers at Brann & Isaacson have handled complex judicial proceedings, administrative hearings, and commercial arbitrations throughout the country.  We have represented clients in such diverse areas as class actions, intellectual property law (patents, trademarks and copyrights), contractual issues, real estate, environmental, energy, construction, employment, antitrust and trade regulation matters, corporate governance and dissolutions, and constitutional law. We provide clients with a unique combination of strategic thinking, first-rate trial and appellate skills, and well-tested litigation judgment and negotiation skills.  Our litigators are aggressive advocates who are not reluctant to try cases, but are also highly skilled negotiators who can create opportunities to resolve cases inexpensively and efficiently through alternative dispute resolution procedures and settlement negotiations.  We maintain and utilize state of the art courtroom technology and use it to great advantage.

CLIENTS AND CLAIMS OF ALL SIZES

The firm's litigation clients range from large multinational corporations to small businesses and entrepreneurs, from local municipalities and school districts to international direct marketing companies such as L. L. Bean, and include global Internet and media services companies, such as AOL.  Brann & Isaacson attorneys have defended and prosecuted multi-million dollar disputes in both state and federal courts throughout the country, as well as in domestic and international arbitrations.

NATIONAL SCOPE AND EXPERIENCE

Because of the national scope of our practice, we also have considerable experience in directing and monitoring litigation on behalf of our clients where the matter is more appropriately handled by out-of-state counsel and have developed a strong network of highly qualified local counsel around the country to assist us as required.  Depending on the scope and nature of the matter, we work cooperatively with large and small law firms in either a lead or supporting role.  Brann & Isaacson also has substantial experience representing out-of-state companies and individuals as local counsel in state and federal court in Maine.  Because we regularly litigate in those courts, Brann & Isaacson lawyers are familiar with the local rules and practices of both the state and federal courts in Maine.

TRIAL ATTORNEYS WITH DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS AND TALENTS

To support its sophisticated litigation practice, Brann & Isaacson has recruited lawyers from around the United States, including alumni of some of the country's largest private firms, the U.S. Justice Department, and the Attorney General's Office.  Many of Brann & Isaacson's lawyers have served as judicial clerks prior to joining the firm, which provides significant insight into the judicial process.  Several of the firm's litigators practiced in the Washington, D.C. area, in the practice fields of antitrust (defense and prosecution), government contracts, white collar criminal defense, product liability and commercial litigation. Brann & Isaacson trial lawyers take advantage of the firm's moderate size and collegial atmosphere to draw freely upon each other, and on the firm's transactional specialists, for insights and opinions on important litigation decisions. This free flow of ideas is often crucial to providing the highest quality and most cost-effective representation.
